Tour Diary - Day Five

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The MANCHESTER gig is cancelled. Sorry! Not our fault!

Leeds - The Vine
With The Scarlet Tuesday + Being 747

Setlist:
To The Power Of Love
Super Bonus
Contains Mild Peril
The Girl Who Loved Slaughter
Trance Anthem
Teenwolf
When The Tape Stops
Zombie Bride
My Portable Friend

TERRIBLE turnout for this one, unfortunately. Football clash + the day after a bank holiday = Dead Leeds. Still, it was really good fun - Being 747 were fantastic, us guys and the Scarlets played really well, the promoter was lovely, and England won 3-1 with Peter Crouch dancing like a robot. We still managed to sell a few albums to those who did turn up, so if you're one of those people doing further exploration of the pony - THANKYOU very much!
On the way home we performed some kind of unwise slalom with the Scarlet Tuesday down the M1, and then made our first service station stop. I managed to spend over £10 on JUNK whilst Nathan won all of his expenses back on a Fruit Machine. I shall never understand those things: FACT.

GIG RATING: 6.5 / 10

Tour Diary - Day Four

Derby - Glasshouse
With The Scarlet Tuesday, Secondman, Little Courage and Pete Green

Miles covered: three? hehe.

Setlist:
Straight Out of the Crompton
Yesterday's Technology
Trance Anthem
New, untitled song about the evils of television (ideas?)
Back Hit
Teenwolf
To The Power of Love
Contains Mild Peril
I'm In Love (With a Noxious Gas)
---
Zombie Bride

This was quite odd. There were supposed to be eight bands, as some kind of late starting, late finishing alldayer, but THREE of the bands pulled out, leaving a more reasonable five-band gig that didn't force people to stay ludicrously late on a school night.
This was the last of our three dates with the delicious Pete Green, we will miss him. Little Courage were REALLY LOUD so I was glad I had my earplugs so I could still watch them without cowering behind a pillar / sofa / window. I wasn't keen on Secondman at ALL but they seemed like nice chaps, just not my kind of music.
TST played a fun set that unfortunately contained various elements of technical tragedy but was ultimately really good - including playing one of their songs twice because everyone enjoyed them so much.
And us... we played fairly well, considering! It was still brutally loud, which meant that all we could hear on "stage" was a TERRIFYING ROAR. We played some BRAND NEW songs which went surprisingly well, especially since I haven't written all of the words for either of them yet! Meanwhile, Yesterday's Technology went horribly wrong, but I blame an over-high mic stand. Ha!

Nottingham - Junktion Seven

Setlist:
To The Power of Love
Super Bonus
Girl Who Loved Slaughter
Yesterday's Technology
Trance Anthem

There Isn't Enough Love in the World
My Portable Friend

Another good one! We went on last, quite late, so the room had been slightly drained of people, but there were still a good number left. These people included "Crazy Dancing Girl", plus my sister, aunt and cousin. FAMILY GIG. I received a lunch box from my cousin which I ate when I got home. Hooray!

GIG RATING: 7/10

Barnsley - The Arches
All-dayer with various bands that we didn't end up seeing

Setlist:
Straight Out Of The Crompton
Zombie Bride
Yesterday's Technology
Self-Destruct With Me
Contains Mild Peril
Teenwolf
Scene But Not Heard
Robot Son

We didn't expect too much from this one, but it was actually quite fun. The venue was MASSIVE, and there was a dog running around in it. There was a bowl of black pudding on the bar available as snack. Beer was £1.85 - will this be "cheapest on tour"? There were no food shops open in the entire of the town centre, but they had a Primark.
We scarpered after the Scarlet Tuesday had played and went BOWLING in Sheffield. This was excellent. Nic Scarlet won the first game, Pod Pony won the second after starting the round with FOUR strikes in a row! We ate dodgy burgers and returned home where I fell into some kind of pub crawl. Today's gig will be painful as a result, but I am up to the challenge!

GIG RATING: 5/10. BOWLING RATING: 10/10.

Setlist:
To The Power of Love
Straight Out of the Crompton
Super Bonus
The Girl Who Loved Slaughter
Scene But Not Heard
Trance Anthem
Teenwolf
Self-Destruct With Me
Zombie Bride
Robot Son

This was an excellent start to the tour, and indeed one of our best gigs ever! For some reason our Sheffield gigs always seem to go incredibly well, so I guess it's all downhill for the rest of the tour...
The soundman was brilliant, the people were numerous and friendly, and the beer was £2.42 which was "the weirdest price". I beat Nathan at pool, and put Symposium and the Wannadies on the Jukebox.
