Seaside is Painless

When Lardpony "stopped", we had been working on some recordings. Unfortunately these never quite got finished, and then there was a fiery explosion and data was lost in the debris and now they never will be.

However, they were NEARLY there. And so we proudly present the SEASIDE IS PAINLESS EP, for free download. Bear in mind that some of these songs aren't fully mixed / mastered and may sound a little rough!

EVERYTHING IN A BIG ZIP FILE! (45mb)

1. Everyone's Fault But Mine
2. Indecent Exposures
3. Inflammable Means Flammable
4. Ifs and Butts
5. Seaside is Painless
6. Space God of War
7. Yesterday's Technology (Luke Elliott Remix)
8. Indecent Exposures (demo)

Track 1 is completely finished. 2 - 4 are unmastered. 5 and 6 are instrumental because I hadn't got round to writing the words yet. 7 is Luke's sexy remix of a song from 'The Greatest Invention Ever'. 8 is a home demo of track 2 that sounds quite nice.

We submitted a couple of songs for tribute albums that might (hopefully) still happen but other than that this is the last you shall hear from Lardpony, barring any money-grabbing reunion tours that may happen in 2015.

Tom is now playing in Of Mice and Mental Arithmetic and solo as Vom Vorton.

Nathan is now playing in The Making Of.

Pod occasionally releases solo recordings as WAAR.

Goodbye!

goodbye mandy

After 5 years and nearly 100 gigs, Lardpony founder member Mandy McKirdy has decided to leave the band, on account of sharing a human baby with Lardpony non-founder (but NEARLY) member Nathan Wilson.

Neither Lardpony nor Mandy McKirdy currently have any concrete plans for the future.

Nobody knows what the future will bring!

WATCH THIS SPACE. OR DON'T BECAUSE IT WILL PROBABLY BE AGES BEFORE I CAN BE BOTHERED TO UPDATE IT.

Laser Waar

Hello. I have a new job, Pod has a new website! Visit Waar.co.uk for all your sideproject-based needs.

The gig described in the previous post did not happen due to "Massive Confusion At The Royal", but Indietracks did, and it was awesome, ludicrously hot, and a fantastic load of fun.

The upcoming gigs listed above are, as far as I know, going to happen. So come to them!

No Weddings and Two Funerals

The Little Explorer, one of Derby's finest bands, played an emotional last-ever gig last night at Derby's newest venue, The Royal. The first gig that I ever saw in Derby featured pre-explorer band Steel Keep as the first support, and hence they were the first ever band I saw in this city, nearly 8 years ago. It's very sad to see them go, especially with no real plans for their recorded-but-unreleased second album.

Twinkie are following suit and disbanding after their gig at The Royal on July 4th, which is just as sad. They've been going for about a hundred years, and we played our very first gig with them in July 2003, and then went on to release our first album on Moo's label.

Sad times for Derby bands, but at least they're going out with a bang!

Meanwhile, we continue our part-time assault on the Midlands by arranging babysitters and playing at that same venue on July 3rd with Nottingham's easy-to-google rock animals Swound! - I think this is our first gig together and our first time in a sexy new venue, so it should be good fun!

We've also been back into the studio to work on some new songs, with a view to releasing some kind of EP or single in the near future... Updates on this will hopefully come soon!

LP on TV

On our tour, the summer before last, we got interviewed by THE SKY REPORT for some reason. Almost two years later, I got round to putting it on youtube. ENJOY!

ADDITIONAL:

Come to Duckworth Fayre in July. We're not playing, but one of us (ME) has had a hand in organising it. Go on!

HELLO EVERYONE (1)

Hello! We moved the website over to a new host a few months ago and I only just got around to sorting it out for new posts and stuff, due to lazy.

We did a gig on February 10th, our first since last Summer, it was fun. We played some new songs - "Ifs and Butts" and "Indecent Exposures" - but we haven't practiced since. It seems we are much more of a PART-TIME band now that half of us have adult responsibilities.

BUT that doesn't mean we don't have some MORE gigs lined up!

On MAY 8th we will be returning to action to play at Lee Rosy's Tea Room in Nottingham with from Sweden and our local buddies The Deirdres.

And we're also playing this year's Indie Tracks festival, at the Midland Railway Centre in Ripley, Derbyshire.

It was brilliant last year and promises to be bigger and better AND contain more LARDPONY action this year, so COME and be merry and so on!

More news soon, hopefully, now that everything WORKS again!
