JULY 03: The Royal, Derby - with Swound
JULY 26-27: Indie Tracks Festival, Derbyshire - with absolutely everyone
Sunday, June 8th
Twinkie are following suit and disbanding after their gig at The Royal on July 4th, which is just as sad. They've been going for about a hundred years, and we played our very first gig with them in July 2003, and then went on to release our first album on Moo's label.
Sad times for Derby bands, but at least they're going out with a bang!
Meanwhile, we continue our part-time assault on the Midlands by arranging babysitters and playing at that same venue on July 3rd with Nottingham's easy-to-google rock animals Swound! - I think this is our first gig together and our first time in a sexy new venue, so it should be good fun!
We've also been back into the studio to work on some new songs, with a view to releasing some kind of EP or single in the near future... Updates on this will hopefully come soon!

No Weddings and Two Funerals
The Little Explorer, one of Derby's finest bands, played an emotional last-ever gig last night at Derby's newest venue, The Royal. The first gig that I ever saw in Derby featured pre-explorer band Steel Keep as the first support, and hence they were the first ever band I saw in this city, nearly 8 years ago. It's very sad to see them go, especially with no real plans for their recorded-but-unreleased second album.Twinkie are following suit and disbanding after their gig at The Royal on July 4th, which is just as sad. Wednesday, April 9th
We did a gig on February 10th, our first since last Summer, it was fun. We played some new songs - "Ifs and Butts" and "Indecent Exposures" - but we haven't practiced since. It seems we are much more of a PART-TIME band now that half of us have adult responsibilities.
BUT that doesn't mean we don't have some MORE gigs lined up!
On MAY 8th we will be returning to action to play at Lee Rosy's Tea Room in Nottingham with from Sweden and our local buddies The Deirdres.
And we're also playing this year's Indie Tracks festival, at the Midland Railway Centre in Ripley, Derbyshire.
It was brilliant last year and promises to be bigger and better AND contain more LARDPONY action this year, so COME and be merry and so on!
More news soon, hopefully, now that everything WORKS again!

Hello! We moved the website over to a new host a few months ago and I only just got around to sorting it out for new posts and stuff, due to lazy.We did a gig on February 10th, our first since last Summer, it was fun. Lard Pony
Some things take a while to like, whilst other things are loved instantly. The Glo bar is the latter. I was quite surprised to see a handful of doormen with good security because if this venue was put in ‘Nottingham venues’ hierarchy it would be close to bottom; due to lack of publicity. However I could feel the potential of the place as soon as I stepped inside. The jazzy ‘OC’ feel venue can boast of its large plush leather sofas, dim lighting and a decent sized stage. First on tonight the band took nearly as long as the gig to get sound checked and ready but finally the set was ready, people moved to the front and the music began to fill the room. As seems to be popular in recent indie bands a girl is on the keyboards, with a drummer behind her, joined by the bassist and lead guitarist/vocalist. Together they make the Derby experimental techno band Lard pony. As the set progressed the songs got better with catchier riffs and keyboard melodies joining in well with the guitar. The musicality varies which is refreshing as a lot of techno and electro bands will use a similar beats for every song. The songs get faster with new ideas and with the album out soon they seem set to get out into the music scene.

Everyone's Fault But Mine, as heard on our myspace, is the last track on the new 'Anthems from the Phantom' compilation on Phantom Power records. Why not go there, buy it and bask in the Sheffieldy glory? That's right, "sheffieldy". Look it up. Also featured are those lovely Plans and Apologieses, plus loads of excellent Sheffield bands like Balor Knights and Pete Green, who technically isn't a band but he's not letting that stop him.
You can now be a 'fan' of us on facebook if you click that word there ("facebook"). I put lots of photos on it and there is a video uploading that is already on youtube so I'm not sure why I'm bothering but it's 10:39am on Sunday and my hangover prevents me doing anything more active so.
The release of our Cloudberry single thing is being held up by the breakdown I'm having but at some point it will probably still happen.
We have a gig in February, it might be the 10th. I put some new strings on my guitar in excitement.

We're still on a break while Mandy and Nathan get used to dealing with their new baby, but hopefully Tom and Pod will be doing an acoustic gig next month.
